March is upon us. Our Open House for the 2011-2012 school year was a success! Thanks to everyone
who helped. There are very limited openings for next year’s classes so if you or someone you know is interested, please contact Nicole or Alissa immediately. Also, please remember that RCNS is offering the Kindergarten Enrichment program to all current Pre K and Kindergarten students who want an extra academic “boost”.
This class is also filling up fast so hurry to ensure your child’s spot in class! On March 14th at
9:00 am, we will be holding our annual General Membership Meeting in Fellowship Hall. All parents are invited
to attend. On the agenda are the school’s By-Laws. Please also consider joining the Board next year,
it’s a great way to be involved with your child’s early education. It’s also a great way to
meet other parents! See Nicole to discuss open positions. Spring is hopefully right on the horizon!
Gertrude Hawk orders are due on March 11th so please remember RCNS when it’s time to fill those Easter
Baskets and celebrate the change of season! We are still collecting Campbell’s Labels For Education.
Bring in those labels to earn free stuff for our classrooms! The drop off box is in the office. Kim and Angela December 2010 Happy Holidays!
The holiday season is here and the staff is busy planning special projects and parties to welcome this magical time of year.
We hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving. The children truly enjoyed
our celebrations and we gave thanks for all that we have. Thank
you to everyone who contributed to the success of our fundraisers. Shop week is just about wrapping up. Thank you to everyone
for spending and purchasing some great items! In addition thank you to all the RCNS families who donated their used toys to
other less fortunate children. It is such a wonderful cause and when Kim and I dropped off the toys it felt so wonderful to
give. On another note, winter weather has arrived, please look
at our website or listen to the school voicemail for school closings and delayed openings. In the event that there is a closing
or delayed opening, there will be a message on the website and voicemail. Also, please remember to label your child’s
hats, coats and mittens with their names. Our open House/Registration
will be scheduled in the upcoming months, please stay tuned for the date. As always, there are many volunteer opportunities
available. If you are interested in becoming more involved with RCNS, please contact Kim, Angela or Nicole. We wish you all a very Happy, Healthy and Safe Holiday Season! Enjoy your
winter break!! Kim and Angela November 2010 November is upon us and I am
not sure how time is passing so quickly! It seems like yesterday our children were anxiously and excitedly
beginning the new school year. Suddenly, we saw our classrooms filled with princesses and skeletons, super
heroes and trains, animals and race car drivers. And all the little ghosts and goblins were happily munching
on cupcakes and treats! Thanks to all the parents and teachers for making Halloween so much fun for our
kids! Thanks
also to everyone who made our recent fundraisers huge successes! Tara Baeli and Joy Guirreri both
have worked so hard and the support of RCNS families and friends has really paid off. Vickie Stoffel has
been scheduling upcoming Shop and Dine Out Nights so keep an eye out for dates to do some holiday shopping and enjoying meals
while raising money for our school. Avon products are always such a great hit for holiday gifts. We are
fortunate enough to have Erin Thacker as an Avon representative. She has generously offered to donate profits
from Avon sales to RCNS. Watch for catalogues in your children’s backpacks. We
also have a fantastic fundraising arrangement with Captured Moments for RCNS Family Holiday Portraits. Make sure you reserve
a time slot for the November 13th event! Please contact Chrissy at 973-432-0008 for more details and to
schedule your appointment. Thanksgiving is rapidly approaching. “Thanks” and “Giving”
are the two very important words that we think of at this time of year. This year, as in years past, each class will be collecting
donations for Thanksgiving Baskets filled with everything to give local, less fortunate
families a holiday meal. Look for sign-up sheets on class bulletin boards! In the spirit
of giving thanks, RCNS will be “thanking” our troops by donating our left-over, extra Halloween candy.
In conjunction with Operation Gratitude, we will be collecting candy to be sent to our troops serving overseas.
A drop off basket is located in the office. With the holidays rapidly approaching, let’s take
time to remember all we have to be thankful for and to share goodwill with others in our community. It’s
a great lesson in giving and sharing for our children. While you are doing your own shopping for your holiday meals, please take a moment
to register your Stop and Shop card at www.stopandshop.com/aplus. Stop and Shop is donating FREE
money to local schools through its A+ Bonus Bucks Program. Private Nursery Schools like RCNS are not eligible
to participate but many local elementary schools are. After you register your card and designate a school(s),
every shopping trip you make earns money to support the school(s) of your choice. The following local
schools are participating (as well as other schools listed on the Stop and Shop website): Peter
Cooper Elementary School in Ringwood (ID# 07649), Wanaque Elementary School (ID# 07210) and Haskell
Elementary School (ID# 07620). And don’t forget to clip those Campbell’s Labels For Education
and place them in the collection box in the office. Please contact Tracy Baker for more information. If you have any questions or
concerns about any of the above events or programs, please feel free to contact Kim or
Angela.
We welcome Joann Whitmore
to the Board as the new Housing Coordinator. There are many volunteer opportunities available – many
require just a small amount of time. If you would like to become more involved in your child’s education,
please see Kim, Angela or Nicole! Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving! Kim and Angela September
2010 . Another summer seems to have flown by. We hope everybody
had a great one! We would like to welcome both new and returning families to Ringwood Cooperative nursery School's 48th
year! . Many exciting things
are happening at RCNS. We sadly said good- bye to our director, Lenore Richards. Lenore had been Director for
five years and had been a Board member while her children were students at the Co-Op. We will miss her but wish her well as
she embarks on a new and exciting career which blends her experience in the education field with her business background.
Stop by Educational Warehouse and say hi to her! We are pleased to announce Nicole Langenmayr as the new Director
of Ringwood Cooperative Nursery School. Nicole is the mother of three children.
Her youngest will be entering the Pre-K class in the fall. She served on RCNS's Board last year as the Treasurer
and she has many years of experience in the fields of accounting and business management. Her past involvement and dedication
to RCNS, her proven work experience and ethic, and her love for children make her perfectly suited for her new position. Although faculty, families and students will
miss Mrs. Arlene MacAllen, we all wish her the best as she retires after over 22 years of dedication to the students and families
of the Co-Op. Thank you for all the love and caring you shared with your students over the past two decades! We
welcome Mrs. Andrea Benzinger as our new teacher for the Pre-K class. Mrs. Benzinger is a certified teacher
(Pre School - 3rd grade) who has been the Pre-K aide for the past 4 years. Her son, Jake, is an alumni of RCNS as
well. The RCNS family consists of wonderful staff and terrific families. That's what makes it such a special place!
We are looking forward to another great year!
Last year we introduced our Lending Library. Students have their own
library cards and can borrow books every week. We have added more books and will be continuing the library. If
you are interested in becoming a "Library Helper" for your child's class, please contact one of the Presidents or
Nicole. This additional learning area is also a *Multi-Media Room* with, music, puppets, room to play "parachute"
and audio/video equipment to enhance the creative learning process of our students. The Director's office is also located
in this space. We will be
continuing our "Cooperative Garden" . Last spring, the Midvale United Methodist
Church generously donated a plot of their garden to RCNS. We will be planting again in the fall and are looking
for volunteers to assist our little "Green Thumbs" in the garden.
We are looking forward to a great school year! Please feel free to contact
us with comments or questions at any time.
