The program emphasizes:

  • Cognitive and creative experiences.

Cognitive experiences are presented throughout the year. Some topics include:

  • Numbers,  letter recognition, and introduction to phonics.
  • Introduction to mathematics, telling time and counting money.
  • The calendar.
  • Name recognition and name printing.
  • Rhyming words, opposites, and comparison.
  •  Left to right progression, perception.
  • Likenesses and differences.
  • Science- weather charts, animals, the planets, seasons, nature, recycling, litter, etc.

This class is designed to prepare the child for Kindergarten. In this class children learn to manage their own belongings and class supplies.  We continue to express creativity through music, art, and free play. All art media are available and explored through painting, drawing, glueing and cutting. These activities also develop small motor skills. The outdoor equipment help your child to improve their large motor skills. Free play in the kitchen area, block corner and sand table encourages creativity, decision making, and social interaction.
